BACKGROUND:
The Pioneer Square Community Association (PSCA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3). The mission of the PSCA is to make the Pioneer Square neighborhood an active and vibrant place to live, work, and visit. The PSCA acts as a liason between the community and the city to ensure that community projects get planned, funded, and executed.
The Fire Festival is a celebration of Pioneer Square, Seattle's first neighborhood and site of the Great Seattle Fire of 1889 (after which most of Seattle as we know it was built). After a brief hiatus following the Nisqually Earthquake, the Fire Festival was reborn through the efforts of the Pioneer Square Community Association and the Seattle Fire Department. This summer, on July 10th & 11th, 2009, neighborhood volunteers will again join together around this exciting and engaging community event.
Additional information on the Fire Festival and the Pioneer Square Community Association can be found at http://www.pioneersquare.org.
